Suspicious moles and lesions are often identified using the ABCDE rule: - Asymmetry: One half of the mole doesn't match the other. - Border: Edges are irregular, ragged, or blurred. - Color: The color is not uniform and may include different shades of brown or black, sometimes with patches of pink, red, white, or blue. - Diameter: The spot is larger than 6mm across, although melanomas can sometimes be smaller. - Evolving: The mole is changing in size, shape, or color.
