Some cancers are associated with infectious agents. Viruses such as the human papillomavirus (HPV) are linked to cervical cancer, while the hepatitis B and C viruses are known to cause liver cancer. Helicobacter pylori infection increases the risk of stomach cancer. Vaccination and other preventive measures against these infectious agents can significantly reduce cancer risk.
