While FDG-PET scans are highly useful, they have certain limitations:
- False Positives: Inflammatory and infectious processes can also show high FDG uptake. - False Negatives: Some cancers, like certain types of prostate cancer or low-grade tumors, may not show significant FDG uptake. - Radiation Exposure: Involves exposure to ionizing radiation, albeit at low levels.
