While generally safe, endoscopic procedures do carry some risks, including:
Bleeding, especially if a biopsy or polyp removal is performed. Infection, as with any invasive procedure. Perforation of the organ being examined, which may require surgical repair. Reactions to sedation or anesthesia used during the procedure.
