Are There Any Risks Associated with Imaging Studies?
While imaging studies are generally safe, some do carry risks. For example, repeated exposure to ionizing radiation from X-rays and CT scans may increase the risk of developing secondary cancers. MRI uses strong magnetic fields and is usually safe, but not suitable for patients with metal implants. Allergic reactions to contrast agents, although rare, can also occur.
