Are There Risks Associated with Radiologic Procedures?
While radiologic procedures are generally safe, they do carry some risks. Exposure to [ionizing radiation]() from X-rays and CT scans can increase the risk of developing cancer, although the risk is relatively low compared to the benefits of accurate diagnosis and treatment. MRI is considered safe, but patients with metal implants or devices may not be suitable candidates. PET scans involve exposure to radioactive material, but the amount used is minimal and typically safe for most patients.
