Elevated levels of hCG can be an indicator of specific types of cancers, known as trophoblastic tumors. These include choriocarcinoma, a rare cancer that occurs in a woman's uterus, and gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD), which involves abnormal growth of cells inside a woman's uterus. Elevated hCG levels can also be associated with certain germ cell tumors that may occur in the ovaries or testes, and even some non-trophoblastic cancers like lung, liver, and stomach cancers.
