How are Tyrosine Kinase Receptors Linked to Cancer?
Dysregulation of TKRs is a common feature in many cancers. Mutations, overexpression, and abnormal activation of these receptors can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation and survival, contributing to tumor development and progression. For example, mutations in the EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) are frequently observed in non-small cell lung cancer, while overexpression of the HER2 (Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2) is commonly seen in breast cancer.
