Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy can lead to hyperglycemia. Steroid medications, often used to reduce inflammation and manage side effects of cancer treatment, can increase blood sugar levels by promoting glucose production in the liver and reducing the effectiveness of insulin.
