Cancer is fundamentally a disease of genetic alterations. While much attention has traditionally been focused on mutations in coding regions, emerging research indicates that non-coding regions also significantly contribute to cancer development and progression. Changes in these regions can disrupt normal gene regulation, leading to aberrant cellular behaviors characteristic of cancer.
