How does the PCT process work for cancer-related patents?
The PCT process involves several stages:
Filing: An inventor files an international application with a national patent office or directly with WIPO. International Search: An International Searching Authority (ISA) examines the application to determine the novelty and inventive step of the cancer-related innovation. International Publication: After 18 months, the application is published, making the information available to researchers and companies worldwide. National Phase: The inventor decides which countries to pursue patent protection in and enters the national phase accordingly.
