How is informed consent obtained in cancer treatment?
Informed consent is obtained through a process of communication between the healthcare provider and the patient. The provider must explain the diagnosis, the nature and purpose of the proposed treatment, potential risks and benefits, and any available alternatives. This conversation should be documented, and the patient must voluntarily agree to proceed with the treatment.
