The intermittent hypoxia (low oxygen levels) experienced during OSA episodes can lead to oxidative stress, systemic inflammation, and increased sympathetic nervous system activity, which all can contribute to tumor progression and metastasis. Some studies have shown an association between OSA and an increased risk of certain types of cancer, such as lung cancer and melanoma.
