Alopecia due to cancer treatment is often temporary. Most patients will start to see hair regrowth a few weeks after the completion of their treatment, although it may take several months for the hair to return to its previous state. In some cases, the texture or color of the hair may change. Permanent hair loss is rare but can occur, particularly with high-dose radiation or certain chemotherapy drugs.
