Is There a Connection Between Shift Work and Cancer Risk?
There is growing evidence that shift work, especially night shifts, can increase the risk of developing cancer. The disruption of the body's natural circadian rhythm, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle, can lead to hormonal imbalances and affect the immune system, potentially increasing the risk of cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified night shift work as a probable carcinogen.
