What Are the Challenges in Cancer Detection Programs?
Despite their benefits, cancer detection programs face several challenges:
False Positives: Screening tests can sometimes indicate the presence of cancer when there is none, leading to unnecessary anxiety and additional tests. False Negatives: Some cancers may not be detected by screening tests, giving a false sense of security. Access and Inequity: Not all individuals have equal access to screening programs, especially in low-income regions. Overdiagnosis: Some detected cancers may never cause symptoms or death, leading to unnecessary treatment.
