What Are the Challenges in Developing Senolytics for Cancer?
While promising, the development of senolytics for cancer treatment faces several challenges. One major challenge is the specificity of senolytics for senescent cells, as off-target effects could harm normal tissues. Additionally, the heterogeneity of senescent cells and their context-dependent roles in different cancers necessitates tailored approaches to therapy. Further research is needed to identify biomarkers for effective targeting and to understand the long-term effects of senolytic treatment.
