What are the Challenges in Neoantigen-Based Therapies?
Despite their promise, several challenges must be addressed to maximize the potential of neoantigen-based therapies. One challenge is the heterogeneity of tumors; different regions of a tumor may express different neoantigens, complicating treatment. Furthermore, the identification and validation process is complex and time-consuming. Additionally, the dynamic nature of the immune system and tumor evolution can lead to the emergence of immune escape mechanisms, where cancer cells alter neoantigen expression to evade immune detection.
