One of the main challenges is replicating the complex and heterogeneous nature of tumors. Tumors consist of various cell types, extracellular matrix components, and signaling molecules that interact in a dynamic way. Another challenge is ensuring that the engineered tissues can sustain long-term studies and accurately predict clinical outcomes. Additionally, scaling up these models for high-throughput screening remains a significant hurdle.
