There are several types of CNS cancers, with the most common being gliomas, which arise from glial cells. Gliomas include subtypes such as astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, and ependymomas. Another type is meningiomas, which develop from the meninges, the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Medulloblastomas are common in children and arise in the cerebellum. Additionally, CNS lymphomas, though rarer, can occur when lymphatic cells become malignant within the CNS.
