In addition to TNM, many cancers are also described in stages I through IV:
- Stage 0: Also known as carcinoma in situ, where cancer cells are present but have not spread. - Stage I: Early-stage cancer, typically confined to the tissue of origin. - Stage II and III: Intermediate stages where the cancer has spread to nearby tissues or lymph nodes. - Stage IV: Advanced cancer with distant metastasis.
