Several components of the immune system are involved in cancer immunity:
T-cells: These are a type of white blood cell that plays a central role in the immune response. They can directly kill cancer cells or help other immune cells to do so. B-cells: These cells produce antibodies that can bind to cancer cells and mark them for destruction by other immune cells. Natural Killer (NK) cells: These cells can recognize and kill cancer cells without prior sensitization to specific antigens. Dendritic cells: These are antigen-presenting cells that process and present cancer antigens to T-cells, initiating an immune response.
