Despite its many advantages, confocal microscopy has some limitations:
Depth Penetration: Limited to imaging relatively thin samples, as the technique struggles with deeper tissue penetration. Phototoxicity: Prolonged exposure to laser light can damage live cells, affecting the accuracy of long-term studies. Cost: The high cost of confocal microscopes and their maintenance can be a barrier for some research facilities.
