For cancer patients and their caregivers, the following hand hygiene practices are recommended:
- Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after touching potentially contaminated surfaces. - Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available. - Avoiding touching the face, especially the eyes, nose, and mouth, with unwashed hands.
