Despite its potential benefits, allogeneic stem cell transplantation comes with significant risks. One of the most serious complications is Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD), where the donor cells attack the recipient's tissues and organs. This can range from mild to severe and can affect the skin, liver, and gastrointestinal tract. Other risks include infections due to a weakened immune system, organ damage, and a relapse of the original cancer.
