One of the primary limitations of imaging techniques is their sensitivity and specificity. Sensitivity refers to the ability of the test to correctly identify those with the disease, whereas specificity refers to the ability to correctly identify those without the disease. For example, CT scans may detect a mass, but they often cannot distinguish between benign and malignant tissues. Similarly, MRI might be highly sensitive but not specific enough to rule out false positives.
