Positive Result: Indicates a harmful mutation in BRCA1 or BRCA2. This significantly increases the individual's risk of developing breast, ovarian, and other cancers. Negative Result: Indicates no harmful mutations were found. However, this does not mean the individual is free from risk, as other genetic and environmental factors can also contribute to cancer risk. Uncertain Result: Indicates a mutation was found, but its impact on cancer risk is not clear. Further research and family history may help clarify the risk over time.
