Sarcoma is a type of cancer that originates in the connective tissues of the body, such as bones, muscles, fat, cartilage, and blood vessels. Unlike carcinomas, which arise from epithelial cells, sarcomas develop from mesenchymal cells. They are relatively rare, accounting for about 1% of all adult cancers but are more common in children.
