Spinal cancer refers to the growth of abnormal cells within the spinal cord or the bones of the spine (vertebrae). These abnormal cells can form tumors that may be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Spinal cancer can originate in the spine (primary spinal cancer) or spread from other parts of the body (secondary or metastatic spinal cancer).
