What Types of Cancer are Associated with Ligase IV Mutations?
Mutations or deficiencies in Ligase IV have been linked to a range of cancers, including leukemias, lymphomas, and some solid tumors. For instance, in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), mutations in the NHEJ pathway, including Ligase IV, have been observed. Similarly, Ligase IV mutations can predispose individuals to radiation-sensitive severe combined immunodeficiency (RS-SCID), which is associated with an increased risk of developing leukemia.
