Avelumab is currently approved for the treatment of several types of cancer. These include Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer, and urothelial carcinoma, a common type of bladder cancer. In addition, avelumab is being studied in clinical trials for its potential use in other cancers such as non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and renal cell carcinoma.
