Which Cancer Treatments are Most Likely to Cause Neuropathy?
Chemotherapeutic drugs are the most common cause of treatment-induced neuropathy. Drugs such as platinum-based drugs (e.g., cisplatin, carboplatin), taxanes (e.g., paclitaxel, docetaxel), and vinca alkaloids (e.g., vincristine) are particularly notorious for their neurotoxic effects. Radiation therapy can also damage nerves, especially when it targets areas close to major nerve pathways.
