Why is Alloimmunization a Concern in Cancer Treatments?
Alloimmunization can lead to several complications in cancer treatments. The presence of alloantibodies can make it difficult to find compatible blood products for transfusions, increasing the risk of transfusion reactions. In stem cell or bone marrow transplants, alloimmunization can cause graft rejection or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), where the donor's immune cells attack the recipient's body.
