Certain cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and metastatic breast cancer, can spread to the CNS. Traditional systemic chemotherapy often cannot penetrate the blood-brain barrier effectively. Intrathecal therapy ensures that higher concentrations of chemotherapy agents reach the CSF, improving treatment efficacy for CNS-involved malignancies.
