Are There Any Risks Associated with Contrast Agents?
While generally safe, contrast agents can have potential side effects and risks:
Allergic reactions: Some patients may experience mild to severe allergic reactions, including hives, itching, or anaphylaxis. Kidney function: Patients with pre-existing kidney conditions may be at risk for kidney damage, particularly with iodine-based agents. Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF): A rare but serious condition associated with gadolinium-based agents in patients with renal impairment.
