Given its significant role in cancer progression and metastasis, PTHrP is being explored as a potential therapeutic target. Strategies to inhibit PTHrP expression or block its interaction with PTH1R are under investigation. Antibodies against PTHrP, small molecule inhibitors, and receptor antagonists are some of the approaches being tested to mitigate its oncogenic effects.
