Cancer is the result of changes or mutations in the DNA of cells, which lead to uncontrolled cell growth. Toxins can cause these mutations by directly damaging DNA or by causing cells to divide more rapidly, increasing the likelihood of errors during cell division. This process is known as carcinogenesis.
