Cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, can exacerbate IHD. Certain chemotherapeutic agents, such as anthracyclines and HER2 inhibitors, have cardiotoxic effects that can lead to heart damage. Radiation therapy to the chest area can also damage the coronary arteries and heart tissue, increasing the risk of IHD.
