DNA-PKcs plays a significant role in determining the efficacy of certain cancer treatments, particularly those that induce DNA damage, such as radiation therapy and some chemotherapeutic agents. Inhibitors of DNA-PKcs are being explored as potential cancer treatments. By inhibiting DNA-PKcs, the repair of DNA damage is hampered, leading to increased cancer cell death. This strategy is particularly effective in cancers that are highly reliant on DNA-PKcs for survival.
