In HDR brachytherapy, a radioactive source is temporarily placed inside the tumor or treatment area using a catheter or applicator. The source emits radiation that specifically targets cancer cells, minimizing exposure to the surrounding healthy tissues. After the prescribed dose is delivered, the source is removed.
