In cancer research, spatial transcriptomics is particularly valuable for understanding the tumor microenvironment (TME). The TME includes cancer cells, stromal cells, immune cells, and the extracellular matrix, all of which play critical roles in tumor development, progression, and response to therapy. By using spatial transcriptomics, researchers can map out the heterogeneity of tumors, identify distinct cellular niches, and understand how different cell populations communicate within the tumor.
