Cancer, particularly hematological malignancies and solid tumors, can significantly compromise the immune system. As a result, individuals with cancer are at an increased risk of reactivation of latent TB infection or acquiring new TB infections. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation further exacerbate this risk by suppressing the immune system.
