Metastatic tumors, commonly referred to as metastases, are cancerous growths that have spread from their original site to other parts of the body. This process is known as metastasis. Cancer cells break away from the primary tumor, travel through the blood or lymphatic system, and establish new tumors in other organs or tissues. Metastatic cancer is considered more advanced and is often more challenging to treat than localized cancer.
