myeloproliferative disorders

What are Myeloproliferative Disorders?

Myeloproliferative disorders are a group of diseases that originate from the hematopoietic stem cell, leading to the excessive production of one or more types of blood cells. The primary types of MPDs include Polycythemia Vera (PV), Essential Thrombocythemia (ET), and Primary Myelofibrosis (PMF). These conditions are considered clonal disorders, meaning they originate from a single mutated cell that gives rise to a population of identical cells.
