Pleural malignancies refer to cancers that affect the pleura, which is the thin membrane that lines the lungs and the inside of the chest wall. The most common type of pleural malignancy is malignant pleural mesothelioma, often associated with asbestos exposure. However, other cancers, such as lung cancer and metastatic cancers from other parts of the body, can also involve the pleura.
