What are the benefits and challenges of immunotherapy?
Immunotherapies have shown significant promise in treating various types of cancer. Benefits include the potential for long-lasting responses and the ability to target cancer cells specifically, thereby reducing damage to normal cells. However, there are challenges as well. Not all patients respond to immunotherapy, and some may experience severe side effects due to an overactive immune response, known as immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Additionally, the cost of immunotherapy can be high, limiting accessibility for some patients.
