What are the Challenges in Automated Segmentation?
Despite its advantages, automated segmentation faces several challenges. These include variations in image quality, differences in patient anatomy, and the presence of artifacts in medical images. Additionally, the performance of segmentation algorithms can be limited by the availability of annotated training data, especially for rare types of cancer. Ensuring the generalizability of the algorithms across different imaging modalities and institutions is also a significant challenge.
