What Are the Challenges in Targeting Cancer Metabolism?
While targeting cancer metabolism is promising, there are several challenges. Cancer cells exhibit metabolic plasticity, allowing them to switch between different metabolic pathways to evade therapeutic interventions. Additionally, normal cells also rely on some of the same pathways, raising concerns about toxicity and side effects. Hence, identifying cancer-specific metabolic vulnerabilities is crucial for developing effective treatments.
