What Are the Challenges of Using Genomic Data in Cancer Treatment?
Despite the advancements, there are several challenges in using genomic data for cancer treatment. Tumor heterogeneity, where different cells within a tumor have different mutations, can complicate the identification of driver mutations. Additionally, some cancers may not have clear genomic targets, and the cost and accessibility of genomic testing can be a barrier. Furthermore, interpreting the vast amount of data generated from genomic sequencing requires significant expertise and resources.
