intraoperative assessment

What are the Limitations of Intraoperative Assessment?

Despite its usefulness, intraoperative assessment has limitations. For instance, frozen section analysis may not be as accurate as permanent section analysis performed post-surgery. The rapid freezing process can sometimes compromise the tissue architecture, making it challenging to interpret. Additionally, intraoperative ultrasound and other imaging techniques may not always detect microscopic disease.
